D-Day - Departure from Blackboys 4th March 2013

Welcome to my first Blog Posting on Adjayi Family Spanish Adventure - Which was suggested we do by our good friend Daryl.  So here it is ................


Well today was the day when we were due to leave our lovely home and village of Blackboys, East Sussex 2013!  A decision decided some 4 years previous, but destination not confirmed until 2 years ago.  Boy what an emotional roller coaster just to get this far!

Most of our furniture and belongings were already in storage.  The car was half loaded with the necessities to get us to Spain and live for a few months, and everything seemed on schedule for dropping the keys to Lampons Estate Agents at 1pm!

However, somehow in the organised chaos Paul's new trainers have either gone to the dump or storage, we won't know for a few months!

Almost finished packing, cleaning the house as we go and waiting for Paul to return from the last trip to the storage site. Conservatory almost empty apart from the two fire extinguishers that were due for our friend Ted, but that didn't happpen and we couldn't get them to him, so Paul was going to put them in the garage for Sarah (the buyer) as having an open fire, may come in useful. But we didn't expect what happened next ..........

The conservatory become covered in white, in the inside,  no it wasn't snow but the CO2 extinguisher pin was loose so Paul tried to push it in and WHOOOOOOSH!   Kids thought it was great.  However, my thoughts were not the same as in 30 mins time we should have been out!
We waited for the powder to settle and luckily we left the vacuum cleaner until last and so this was going to be its last and final test,  it sucked up the powder just before it croaked.  Then it was on our hands and knees clean like the clappers to try and get it done.  If we weren't tired then we definitely are now.

Now for the 1 3/4 hr drive to Grandma's for an overnight stop before the Ferry at Portsmouth the next day.  I'm not sure how the emotions will be , but somehow we will need to keep it together with the kids, because alot of this journey out of the comfort zone is for the children too!
