Wednesday 27th March 2013

An early waking to the sunshine too trying to peep through the clouds - forecast for Cordoba I am expecting to be a pleasant 19 degrees.

The kids were great getting all their things ready for a prompt departure - we had told them the night  before that it was an early start with the incentive reminder "what treats do we normally get on hot sunny days?" - ICECREAMS!  Works every time.

Some how we were early and had 15 minutes for a quick stop at Repsol (Spain number 1 favourite / dominating fuel supplier).  And a snack for the kids as it was some time since breakfast.

We met Marta at the Decathlon in Cordoba, a huge store - this one was, so will pop there at some stage.  Followed Marta as the house in question was supposed to be 3 mins away,  I was hoping for further, as Decathlon was in quite a busy area.  Anyway we then met up with Carlos and Olga, once again a very pleasant couple - but not only was the house just not us, it wasn't really big enough.  However, if we needed a Plan B - then this would suffice.

Time was short so we zoomed to our next house, well the Agent Marcial said to meet him at the Sign of Urbanizacion de Quintanar in Aldea Quintana.  But I was, not concerned, but aware that I hadn't had a reply to my last email the night before. In which I advised that once we leave Alora at 7.45 I would have no internet connection so the best point of contact would be my mobile, and could he send me the best number to contact him on should the Satnav threw a wobbly.

Well we found the sign and waited, so decided might as well have our lunch, turns out in the end he had sent email at 9.35 and had tried to call at 9.45 advising the Landlord has an Issue......Well at least we got to have our lunch early.  So what shall we do with the time??

We drove up and down the Urbanizacion de Quintanar and although being a small area, wasn't really an area for us - we still had the picture of La Carlota in the back of our minds.

With over 4 hours to kill - we decided to go on a tour around all the village on the map that either looked the same size or smaller than La Carlota.  We could compare and see if any of these would excite us, and also taking down any numbers if there were any Rental signs on possible homes.

The was a small village the otherside of La Carlota - well I could see a plot of houses in the distance, so we decided to make our way over there.  We were at a junction and the road we need was a really long road with a steep gradient.  And on the corner of this junction was an old lady with her shopping and it looked like she was trying to get the attention of drivers passing by.  Anyway, Paul stopped - well what can she do - we are the Adjayi Ninjas don't you know - unless of course she pulls out a machine gun and then we're ************************************************************************* : (

In both our attempt to make conversation, the old dear was trying to get a lift up the same road we were going to go up, with her shopping - however, with all three kids we were full.  So said sorry and drove off, a few hundred yards up the road and Paul had seen in the rear view mirror this old lady was still trying to get a lift, and said wish we could help.  So I got out of the car hailed Senora! and tried to explain that she could get in my seat and I will wait for Paul to collect me - she was unsure and went to the boot!  I suppose the farming Spanish community do travel by any means necessary!  So explained no, not in the boot but in my seat, so I guided her in.  Then promptly said to the kids  "Bye bye kids,  meet your new mummy!"

Anyway,  I knew it wouldn't be a long wait.  Trying not to looking suspicious - but was glad that standing on this corner, I hadn't decided to wear a skirt!!!!! - As I have noticed there can be alot of these, so called, ladies about in the countryside.

Well they did come back and get me, although Paul thought it was funny to drive straight past me!  Nice one darlin.

Well clocked up some miles today, however, Nothing Did It For Us - but once again, it may seem like a waste of time - but you have to put the leg work in as a reconfirmation - because the reconfirmation actually changes the way you think and behave to get what you desire.

So back to good old Repsol for a nice....... you've guessed it ICE CREAM!
Got back in the car and it literally chucked it down with heavy rain - lucky we hadn't decided to eat outside really.

Well time for a 10 minute powernap before our second view of what we was hoping to be our home for a 1-2 possibly 3 years.  Luis and Carmen were already at the house with their 3 charming sons.  As they were staying at the house for Santa Semana (holiday 28 - 31st March).  Rosana the Agent arrived 5 minutes later.

As soon as we walked in the door, although we really liked the house before - they had really taken on board our list we had sent them and made some changes, and were really keen to show us.  The boys were happy to take the kids out into the garden and play - which was handy keeping them entertained.  And found out later that they had sandwiches and drinks too.  My kids don't miss a trick do they??

Anyway conclusion to the day - we had come to a mutual arrangement and decided to go for it.  Luis's sisters husband is Irish and living in Cordoba (lived here for some 23years, and runs an English teaching school) and being fluent in Spanish was able to help out with the odd translation problem (via his mobile).  However, during Paul's conversation they seemed to be getting on really well and have contacted each other through email.

Well the deal has been done - just got to sort out the paperwork now, Google translate will be working over time in the next few days.  Gone home tired but very excited and happy bunnies - me thinks the kids feel better about it, they like the house too, but I think it was nice for them to spend a couple of hours playing in their potential home as well.

Hope to sign Contracts either Monday or Tuesday, as all Spain closedown until Monday.

Yeh - a fabulous Day!
